The Faculty of Nursing is a progressive faculty within the School of Health Sciences at the University of Iceland. In total more than 500 students are enrolled at the faculty in both undergraduate and graduate programmes. All the courses are in Icelandic, but certain clinical courses can be conducted in English. Note that clinical courses at the University of Iceland are normally short, intensive courses.

If you want to make an exchange to the University of Iceland you need to do the following procedure:

-Contact the international coordinator of the nursing department of your home university and fill in a Learning Agreement form.

-The international coordinator of your home university should nominate you to the international exchange office at the University of Iceland by email incoming@hi.is. Once the application access is granted the student should fill in an online application form, print it out and send it to the international exchange office. Detailed description of the application procedures can be found here, read it carefully.  The international exchange office assists with housing and other practical matters.

-The international coordinator of your home university should also contact Sigrún Ólafsdóttir at the nursing facility sio31@hi.is to inquire about clinical spaces (note that a student might not get the clinical placement he or she wants, the student should always have an option B).

The application deadlines are October 1st for spring semester and May 1st for autumn semester.
